{"id":54,"date":"2017-01-15T20:51:30","date_gmt":"2017-01-15T20:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jengajumuiya.org\/?page_id=54"},"modified":"2017-06-04T03:28:30","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T03:28:30","slug":"housing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.jengajumuiya.org\/?page_id=54","title":{"rendered":"CENCUDER SCHOOL PROJECT: CAMEROON"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jenga Jumiuya* is\u00a0currently raising funds for the construction of a primary school in the rural Ebase-Bajoh village in the\u00a0southwest region of Cameroon, in cooperation with CENCUDER.**<\/p>\n<p>The students of the Ebase-Bajoh village range in ages from 3-16 years and currently attend classes in a single rough structure made\u00a0of a simple sticks, mud and a palm leaf\u00a0roof. The school serves a population of 500\u00a0in a remote village only accessible during limited times of the year over harsh terrain and across rivers that have no fords or bridges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aim:<\/strong>\u00a0The goal of this project is to\u00a0construct two permanent classrooms for the village and equip\u00a0these\u00a0rooms with furniture &#8212; desks, benches, and teacher&#8217;s chairs and tables.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0project is\u00a0expected to cost\u00a0$25,000. Of that we hope to raise $5,000 initially to kick off the project within the next few months, with the remainder to be raised within the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beneficiaries:\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nAs with all projects facilitated by Jenga Jumuiya, a named that means &#8220;Building Community&#8221; in Swahili, the Ebase-Bajoh School Project is borne from the needs of the local community.<\/p>\n<p>The project was requested directly by the community with the hope that by giving their children an opportunty to excel in life through education,\u00a0the well-being of the community as a whole would improve, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty\u00a0that currently exists.<\/p>\n<p>Initially about\u00a0145 kids will benefit directly from the project. While indirectly, the project will benefit further generations, the parents and relatives of these children, and\u00a0the entire Ebase-Bajoh community, as well as the outlying communities of the\u00a0southwest region of Cameroon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Process:\u00a0<\/strong>As with all Jenga Jumuiya projects, we will be working directly with the community &#8212; hand in hand &#8212; to complete this project. The village has donated a significant plot of\u00a0land for this project and will also help to provide the labor required for the construction, as well as coordinate the transportation and delivery of supplies to the site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Jenga Jumiuya*:<\/strong>\u00a0Jenga Jumuiya is a US-based registered 501c3 Non-Profit Organization focused on supported education in developing countries.
